Holley 4bbl to Dodge Truck TBI Adapter

About the adapter

Included with the adapter are four 5/16-18 bolts (with washers) to fasten the adapter to the intake manifold, along with four 5/16-18 flange style nylon insert locknuts which are used to secure the throttle body to the adapter. Installation instructions are also provided.

The adapter is manufactured from quarter inch steel plate, to which the steel studs are welded. The entire plate is powdercoated for looks and corrosion resistance.

What is it used for?

This adapter allows you to mount a Dodge Truck TBI style throttle body onto an intake manifold which has a standard Holley 4bbl flange.

The TBI style throttle body was used on the 3.9L V6, 318ci V8, and 360ci V8 found in various Dodge trucks and vans during the late 1980s and early 1990s. These motors were a stepping stone between the older carbureted engines and the multipoint fuel injected Magnum engines, and thus are affectionately referred to by many enthusiasts as "premags" or "premaggers". The last year for the 3.9L V6 and 318ci V8 premag engines was 1991; the Magnum 3.9L V6 and 318ci (5.2L) V8 replaced them starting with the 1992 model year. The 360ci V8 premag engine held out for one more year (1992), finally being replaced by the 360ci (5.9L) V8 Magnum engine in 1993.

Delivery time:
This is a special order item. Given the understandably low demand for this product, I do not keep them in stock. Instead, I build each one to order as necessary. When you place an order, I will make every effort to build and ship your adapter as soon as possible, but please allow 2-4 weeks for delivery.

About the powdercoat:
The powdercoat finish on this item is more about protecting it from rust than for looks. As you can see from the photos above, once the throttle body is installed, you can't see very much of the adapter. As such, most folks opt to go with the default flat black. However, the "no powdercoat" option is given above just in case you'd like something different and plan to paint or coat it yourself to match your engine or intake manifold, etc. If you do get the adapter without powdercoat though, realize that you will need to take steps to prevent flash rusting if you do not paint or prime it right away. Also, I build these adapters such that the finish is suitable for applying powdercoat, which is much more forgiving than paint. If you are trying to achieve a certain look with paint, you may need to perform some additional finishing steps such as sanding, etc.
